The two options for immigrating to Newfoundland and Labrador are under the Provincial Nominees Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). The NLPNP has categories for workers such as international graduates and entrepreneurs.
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nomination Program (NLPNP) nominates individuals who wish to obtain Canadian permanent residence to the federal government. There are three categories under which one can apply: the Skilled Worker Category, the Immigrant Entrepreneur Category, and the International Graduate Category.
This category is for people who have a guaranteed job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer, or who are already working in the province with a valid Work Permit. To be eligible to apply for this program, you must:
Have a full-time job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer.
Have a Work Permit from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada or have the right to apply for one;
Possess the qualifications, training, skills, and / or accreditation necessary for the job;
Demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Demonstrate that you have sufficient settlement funds and financial resources to successfully establish yourself with your dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Your employer (or future employer) must demonstrate a need for your skills;
Demonstrate sufficient command of English or French to perform job duties.
Have completed at least a two-year diploma or degree program, while studying full-time with opportunity for advancement;
Have a full-time job offer within your field of study, or in a related field of study, from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer.
Have applied to the NLPNP within two years from the date they received their degree or diploma;
Have a legal status to work in Canada, that is, a Post-Graduation Work Permit from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration.
Possess the qualifications, training, skills, and accreditation necessary for the job;
Demonstrate the intention and ability to settle permanently in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to successfully settle with your dependents in Newfoundland and Labrador;
Demonstrate sufficient command of English or French to perform job duties.
This category is for people who want to start a business or acquire an existing business in Newfoundland and Labrador. This program is currently under review.
